Smetana and Associates was established in 1971 as an underground contractor primarily for telephone companies. However, today Smetana builds and maintains distribution systems for all underground utilities.

Smetana operates in accordance with the highest standards in all relationships with customers, suppliers, environment and the community. We strive to foster a climate, which encourages innovation and diligence amongst the employees and staff.

In 1984, Smetana implemented a retirement benefit plan known as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan, or ESOP. Under this plan, employees - now known as Employee Owners - can accumulate company stock as they become eligible. All Smetana Employees have a stake in the continual improvement and success of the company.
